1st Meeting of IEN Energy Team

Those who attended the IEN forum on Nov. 1 heard an engaging presentation on the challenges and problems we are facing today with global warming and climate change and in opportunities we have to solve these challenges by addressing the future energy needs that exists globally.

Bob Murray and Joep Meijer, the Climate Buddies who made a compelling presentation, provided us with a clear analysis of the relationship between climate change and energy use and how we can begin to significantly impact both issues with a commitment over the next 15 years to energy efficiency and a concerted transition to renewable energy.

At the end of the presentation, the Climate Buddies challenged our IEN membership to join them in developing effective, local strategies that individuals and our congregations could initiate to meet the energy challenges we must address in a hurry.

So, this is an invitation to those who are committed to working on the energy challenge for the future benefit of the planet to come together with the facilitating resources from the Climate Buddies to lay out an action plan and begin executing the plan that has local and global outcomes.

This newly forming Energy Action Group will have its initial meeting on Monday Nov. 14, 2011, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Faith Presbyterian Church in Central Austin.
