Screening of "Carbon Nation"

First Presbyterian Church is hosting a screening of the documentary Carbon Nation -- as well as a Q&A with regional and national experts.  The event will be from 2-4pm on Saturday, June 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Austin.

First Presbyterian enthusiastically invites members of all congregations and communities of faith across Austin who would like to participate in a thoughtful discussion about energy -- and the consequences and opportunities of our choices.

Carbon Nation (see trailer here) is a newly released documentary that examines the many consequences of our dependency on fossil fuels and the many benefits of reducing it.  It's not your typical climate change movie.  In fact, its tagline is "The climate change solutions movie that doesn't even care if you believe in climate change."

The film travels from the largest wind power farm (in Texas) to Washington to Alaska and places in between to interview military experts, ministers, a former CIA director and others about new ways to approach our country's energy future.

After we view select portions of the film, we will host a Q&A with three experts who have been working on Texas energy issues.

  • Senator Kirk Watson
  • Jim Marston, energy director, Environmental Defense Fund
  • Bee Moorhead, Texas Impact
