Monthly Mission Moment

We invite you to visit this page regularly to see what exciting activity we have planned, for you to respond to your “hands-on” calling to environmental stewardship. Every month, we will feature a different event that will help you connect with people of faith, all answering our common call to environmental stewardship by serving together in the Austin-area.

COMING THIS SPRING:

Remember the great day we had in March for It's My Park Day?  (If you need a reminder, check out our pictures from planting at Republic Square by clicking on the link below "What We've Been Up To.")  The rain we've had since then has been great for the plants, but also for the weeds!  Let's keep the space looking amazing by spending a couple hours this month weeding the area.  On Saturday, July 24, come to Republic Square in downtown Austin from 9-11 to help spruce up the fruits of our labors.  Weeding tools and gloves will be provided, and you can enjoy the Farmers' Market, too.
Let Daniel Woodroffe know if you plan to attend by e-mailing Daniel.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
We celebrated “It’s My Park Day,” on Saturday, March 6th. Parks and green spaces all over the city were beautified by caring people like you. Austin Parks Foundation coordinated a variety of projects, led by neighborhood groups, organizations and individuals citywide. The IEN Community Service Team highlighted the project at Republic Square Park, with volunteers planting about 1700 native and drought resistant plants. Make sure you visit the park to see how beautiful it looks now! And enjoy a slideshow of the event here!

We hope you didn’t miss Keep Austin Beautiful’s Clean Sweep Day on Saturday, April 10th. This was an opportunity for us to be good stewards of our city by cleaning a part of it. IEN journeyed to south Austin to help clean a section of Slaughter Creek and the park, and then enjoyed a free meal and live music together at the Volunteer Party in Waterloo Park.
